Art Detective aims to improve knowledge of the UK’s public art collection. It is an award-winning online forum that connects public art collections with specialists and members of the public.

Anyone can send us new information or make an enquiry about an artwork. We also run discussions, monitored by subject specialists, covering topics such as portraits, maritime painting, Scottish art, sculpture etc. Our discoveries are shared with the collections and, where relevant, with the National Inventory of Continental European (NICE) Paintings.
